Conquer or Die is woven around the predicaments of Uganda’s symbols of independent or colonial resistance—Omukama Kabaleega, Kabaka Mwanga, Chief Awich, Chief Katuregye, and Chief Aliku, among others, who are recorded and not recorded in our history for their resistance of foreign aggressors —the British and the ferocious Arab slave raiders. The dynamics of collaborators and resisters are what constructed the pre-existence of what became a colonial Uganda space as a homogenous entity of nations that already collaborated and co-existed in diversity. Most importantly, hypothetically, if the peoples of what later became Uganda were never colonised, they would have evolved into a larger modern state galvanised around the super-power of the time, possibly Kabaleega, Mwanga, Awich, etc.
